As an honors graduate in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics from the University of Natal Medical School in Durban, South Africa, Dr. Desai has become a much sought after cardiovascular physician practicing locally since 1990. After graduation from medical school, Dr. Desai earned certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine and the Subspecialty Board of Cardiovascular Diseases. Following a Rotating Internship in Internal Medicine, OB-Gyn, and Pediatrics at Livingston Hospital in Port Elizabeth, South Africa and an Externship in Internal Medicine from the University of Massachusetts, Dr. Desai served his residency in Internal Medicine at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, New York with an elective in Cardiology at UCLA Wadsworth in Los Angeles, California. Dr. Desai did his fellowship in Cardiology at the Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut, 1986-1988, in Nuclear Cardiology at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts (1988), and in Interventional Cardiology at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut, 1989-1990.
